Connect to WiFi if the charger is offline
If the charger is offline and needs to be connect to or change WiFi network you can do it in two different ways based on the software of the charger.
Using Bluetooth (for chargers with software v316 or higher):
- Activate Bluetooth on the charger:
- Press and hold the touch button (the small dot above the LED strip) until the charger's LED strip turns blue.
- If the LED strip turns green, the charger has an older software version than v316, and you must use the WiFi interface method (see the next method, "using installation menu").
- If the LED strip does not change colour but emits a confirmation sound, Bluetooth is already enabled
- Connect via the App:
- Open the app and find the relevant charger.
- Tap the blue Bluetooth symbol under the charger image.
- If the symbol is not visible, go to charger settings and enable Bluetooth by swiping from "no" to "yes."
- In the charger settings, go to "General" and then "WiFi" to add the network.
- Using Installation menu (for chargers with software lower than v316):
- If you don't have access to the charger in the Easee App or Easee Control (Portal) because the charger isn't connected to a cellular network, you can access the charger's installation menu to configure WiFi on the charger.
- Exceptional Information WarningFor UK chargers installed after 1 Jan 2023, this option is not available.
- Exceptional_Information_Flag_Icon.svgIf you are an installer and want to access the installer menu, you will have to turn the power off and on again to make the installation menu available. Accessing the menu should only be done by authorized electricians.
- Put your smartphone in flight mode.
- Hold the touch button on your charger until the LED strip lights up in green and you hear a confirmation tone.
- The charger has now created a local WiFi network.
- Using your phone, connect to the charger’s WiFi network.
- The WiFi name (SSID) contains your charger’s serial number.
- Open your phone’s web browser and enter 192.168.4.1 into the address field.
- Log in with the PIN code located on the front of the charger.
- Exceptional Information Circle Info Icon
- The local WiFi interface will automatically deactivate itself 15 minutes after being activated.
- When you have reached the Installation Menu:
- Go to Settings at the bottom of the page.
- Go to Connect to local WiFi network.
- Find your WiFi network in the list and enter your password.
- Press Log In.
Lastly, we know it’s a bit of a cliché, but often turning the unit off and on again can help! To do this it is recommended to power it off at the mains:
- Locate the dedicated circuit breaker, which should be where your installer connected the charger’s cabling to your mains supply.
- Switch it off and leave for 10 seconds.
- Switch back on again.
