Tesla authentication token refresh - 04/02/21

Modified on Fri, 5 Feb, 2021 at 6:00 PM

Tesla have made some changes to the way in which their authentication tokens work. We use authentication tokens as a means of communicating with your Tesla so that we can deliver cheaper, greener charging.

The changes implemented by Tesla mean that your authentication token will not auto-renew as it normally would. This means that to validate your token in line with the new changes, you’ll need to re-enter your Tesla credentials in the ev.energy app.

Firstly, you will need to update your app when prompted. You'll then need to navigate to the Account tab, select Car Details and then click on the status of your car. You will then be prompted to enter your Tesla login credentials.

Once this is done you’ll be all set, the token will continue to auto-renew as normal and you’ll be able to smart charge without interruption.
