The app establishes direct communication with your car or charger, and when you enable Smart charging, this allows it to schedule your charging sessions during the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly periods. Over the course of a year, utilising Smart Charging can result in saving 140kg of carbon emissions, which is equivalent to the amount of carbon sequestered by seven 10-year-old trees.
While our primary focus is on saving you money, when the cost remains the same, we prioritise scheduling your charges during more environmentally friendly times.
For users based in the UK, the app utilises the carbon intensity forecast of your local electricity grid. It aligns the charging times of your EV with periods when renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, have an excess energy supply.
In the US, we gather generation forecasts from regional power markets like CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM, and others. This allows us to calculate the carbon intensity of electricity based on the precise mix of energy sources, including coal, gas, nuclear, hydro, wind, solar, and more.
Our Solar mode, available worldwide, enables your car to be charged using your solar panels during sunny periods. Alternatively, it can utilise a combination of solar power and grid electricity, depending on the capacity of your solar array. This feature empowers you to charge your car using your own 100% renewable solar energy, free of charge.
