- Download a 3rd party app to test the WiFi signal strength. Previously, we have used:
- For IOS: Airport Utilities
- Go to phone settings
- Scroll down to the app list
- Open the “Airport Utilities” app settings
- Enable the WiFi scanner
- For IOS: Airport Utilities
- For Android: WiFi Analyzer by olgor.com
- Place the phone on top of the charger and scan the WiFi network using the appropriate app
- Any signal over -70dbm may have connectivity issues
- Try moving the router closer to the charger or install a 2.4GHz signal booster between the charger and router to reduce the RSSI reading
Both apps will display nearby WiFi SSIDs of all they can see in the vicinity. The value to read is the RSSI value measured in -dBm. The lower the figure the better, as it will have less interference value.
An ideal figure will be around -50dBm. Anything higher than -70dBm will likely mean an inconsistent connection.
Please note: if you're having connectivity issues due to the strength of your home WiFi, ev.energy will not be able to assist you.
