At this time, our system does not integrate directly with home batteries, but that doesn't mean you can't still use it effectively. Here are some tips on how to make the most of your solar charging experience:
1. Charging your car from solar without discharging from the battery:
If you want to solely charge your car using solar power and not draw any energy from your battery, simply disable the discharge option on your battery app. This will ensure that your car is only being powered by the solar panels.
2. Charging your battery from solar:
To charge your home battery using solar energy, make sure your car is unplugged and use your battery app to manage the charging process. This will allow you to store excess solar energy for later use.
3. Charging your car from your battery:
If you want to charge your car using energy stored in your home battery, enable the discharge option on your battery app. This will allow your car to draw power from the battery when needed.
Please note that future developments will include integration with some home batteries, so stay tuned for updates on this feature.
In the meantime, feel free to reach out to our customer support team if you have any further questions or need assistance with your solar charging setup.
F.A.Q.
1. What should I expect if I have a home battery?
You will need to manage charge/discharge of your battery yourself, otherwise we may use energy from your battery to charge your car.
2. Does the ev.energy algorithm for solar charging consider the solar energy stored in a battery and then discharged in the evening during a scheduled time?
Our current algorithm for solar charging does not take into account the solar energy stored in a battery and discharged in the evening during a scheduled time. However, we are working on integrating with batteries to improve our algorithm in the future. This will allow for a more efficient use of solar energy stored in batteries.
3. Can ev.energy read the Home Battery State-of-Charge?
We do not have access to the home battery State of Charge (SoC). Our app primarily displays real-time production data from solar panels.
4. Does the session pricing and logic take into account charging my EV from my battery?
At the moment, our session pricing and logic do not take into account charging your EV from your battery. We represent the energy delivered from solar power or grid import, using pricing from that time.
