How do I connect my EV(s) through the SmartCharge New York web portal?

To enroll one or multiple EVs via the SCNY web portal, click “Get started” in the “Enroll your electric vehicle(s)” card on the Dashboard, or go into Account and click on the “My EVs” button. Follow the prompts to select your vehicle make, model, and trim, and then select whether it’s registered with the DMV as a passenger (private) or commercial (business) vehicle. You’ll then see a new tab open up where you’ll be directed to share your connected-car account credentials with SmartCar. Enter your username and password, which will not be stored but rather exchanged with the manufacturer’s software platform for a token that provides ev.energy access to your vehicle’s charging data for the purposes of earning SCNY incentives. If you have multiple EVs connected to this account, use the radio buttons to select which EV you’d like to enroll. You can only enroll one EV at a time. You’ll then be taken back to the SmartCharge Dashboard in the previous tab, where you should receive a message indicating that the vehicle was successfully enrolled.

How do I enroll a compatible charger through the  web portal?

It is not necessary to enroll a home charging station if you’ve already successfully enrolled an internet-connected vehicle. However, if you have a non-connected vehicle which you would like to enroll in SmartCharge, you can earn incentives via a compatible home charging station as long as it is located within Con Edison or Orange & Rockland’s service territories. Please note, only ChargePoint, Enel X Juicebox, and SmartenIt charging stations are supported at this time. To enroll your home charging station via the SCNY web portal, click “Get started” in the “Enroll a charging station” card on the Dashboard, or go into Account and click on the “Charging Station” button. Follow the prompts to select your charging station’s manufacturer and model. For ChargePoint, a new tab will open where you can log into your ChargePoint account and authorize ev.energy. Once this is done, you’ll be taken back to the SCNY web portal where you should receive a confirmation that your ChargePoint charger was successfully enrolled. For Enel X, you’ll need to type your 28-digit Juicebox ID into the box provided. After you click ‘Continue,’ you’ll be taken to a ‘Status pending’ page as we work with Enel to connect to your Juicebox, which can take up to 72 hours. For SmartenIt chargers, you’ll need to connect using the ev.energy mobile app. Click here for instructions on how to do this via your mobile phone and the ev.energy app.

How do I set up a primary charge location through the web portal?

After tapping on the “Primary Charging Location” card, enter your home or business address. This is the postal address on record with your electric utility where you live or your business is based, even if your electric utility isn’t Con Edison or Orange & Rockland. Next, you’ll be asked to set a Primary Charging Location. Your primary charging location is the location in either Con Edison or Orange & Rockland service territory where you do most of your charging and will be earning SCNY incentives. For most individuals, this will be at home. If you live outside of Con Edison/O&R service territory (for example, in Connecticut), move the map to the location where you do most of your charging in New York City, Westchester, Orange or Rockland Counties. Setting your Primary Charging Location accurately enables us to accurately estimate your charging costs and calculate the SCNY incentives owed to you.
