The HomeSmart communicates via a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) sim card, which means it does not rely on connecting to your home Wi-Fi in order to connect.
The other side of this however, is that you have to consider local signal in your area and the reliability of this in order to determine if a sim-based unit is right for you.
If the issues persist then you should reach out to Rolec about getting an antenna fitted to help the signal quality.
