The current clamp on the charger will provide the two following benefits:
- It's a safety feature. The current clamp will monitor the total load (amps) going through the home. If the current clamp detects that the load is close to exceeding the maximum the house is able to handle, then the charge rate on the charger will be reduced. Ultimately this will prevent the house fuse from ever being blown.
- Having a current clamp fitted will enable customers to use Indra's solar only feature. This works because the CT clamp is able to detect how much energy the customer is exporting back to the grid from your solar panels. Instead of exporting this energy back to the grid, they're then able to use this excess solar energy to charge their car for free!
