Yes! ev.energy is officially compatible with most of the tariffs that Octopus Energy currently offers.

Octopus Energy offers a range of tariffs with EV owners in mind. They’re leading the way with time-of-use tariffs, offering you great value and control over your energy. The right tariff for you will depend on your setup and how your household consumes energy.

A list of compatible tariffs for smart charging your EV:

Octopus Agile

Octopus Energy’s groundbreaking time-of-use tariff is perfect for anyone that can shift their electricity use outside of peak times. Agile Octopus allows you to enjoy cheaper electricity prices when wholesale prices fall - in some cases, they’ll even pay you to use energy as part of Plunge Pricing, whereby Octopus pays you to take excess energy off the grid. As part of this tariff, you get access to half-hourly energy prices, tied to wholesale prices and updated daily.

Octopus Go

A tariff that offers super cheap electricity for 5p/kWh between 00:30 and 04:30 every night. This tariff provides great value energy for EV owners or battery owners who can schedule their charging to happen overnight. Octopus Go charge is on average over 50% cheaper than typical Economy 7 night time rates. (That’s based on all Economy 7tariffs as of June 2019).

Octopus Cosy

Cosy Octopus is a 3 rate tariff with double dip Cosy Hours every day: six hours of super cheap electric to warm your home. Using the price threshold feature on the ev.energy app, you should be able to utilise the cheaper energy rate to smart charge your EV as well.

Does ev.energy work with Intelligent Octopus?

Unfortunately, Octopus requires complete control over your charge schedules as part of this offer, therefore this is the only tariff where we are unable to officially support smart charging.

You may still use our app with smart charging turned off to benefit from our data exports and track your home and public charges in one place!
